Privacy Policy

This Policy applies to all information we collect through the LieChee Services, regardless of whether you access them through our website, mobile applications, browser extensions, or any other channel. It does not apply to third-party services, websites, or content that LieChee does not own or control, even when linked from our Services.

By using LieChee, you agree to the data practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information — name, email address, school name (optional), and language preference.
• Recordings and transcripts — audio you capture through our Record feature and the transcripts generated from it. Audio is processed locally where possible and deleted from our servers after transcription unless you opt into retention.
• Assignments and prompts — text you upload, paste, or describe for completion by our AI tutor or assignment solver.
• Generated output — the recaps, essays, answers, and other content the Services produce for you.
• Usage data — pages visited, features used, approximate location (country/region), browser type, and similar diagnostic data.
• Payment data — handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not see or store full card numbers.

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Services.
• Process your audio and assignments through our AI models to generate recaps, finished homework, and tutoring responses.
• Personalize content (including matching your writing voice in generated outputs).
• Send transactional emails (receipts, security notices, support replies).
• Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security issues.
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your private content (recordings, assignments, generated output) to train our own AI models or those of any third party.

We share Personal Information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers — vendors who process data on our behalf under written confidentiality and data-protection agreements (cloud hosting, payment processing, transcription, AI inference).
• Legal compliance — when required by law, court order, or valid government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of LieChee, our users, or others.
• Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to affected users.
• With your consent — when you explicitly direct us to share information (e.g., sharing a recap link with a classmate).

We never sell your Personal Information to third parties.

LieChee uses cookies and similar technologies (such as web beacons and local storage) to keep you signed in, remember your language preference, measure feature usage, and improve performance. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some Services may not function correctly if you disable them.

We use a small number of third-party analytics services (such as Vercel Analytics) to understand aggregate, anonymized usage patterns. These services do not receive your private content.

We implement industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your Personal Information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. This includes encryption in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest, strict access controls for our team, and regular security review.

However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If you have reason to believe your interaction with LieChee is no longer secure, please contact us immediately at support@liechee.com.

We retain your Personal Information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. After account closure or a sustained period of inactivity (24 months), we delete or anonymize your information except where retention is required for legal, accounting, or security purposes.

Audio recordings are deleted from our servers within 30 days of transcription unless you explicitly enable retention. Generated content (recaps, essays, answers) is retained only as long as you keep it in your account.

You can access, update, export, or delete your Personal Information at any time from your account settings, or by emailing support@liechee.com. We will respond to verifiable requests within 30 days.

You may also opt out of marketing emails through the unsubscribe link in any such email. Transactional emails (receipts, security alerts) cannot be opted out of while your account is active.

Some browsers transmit a Do Not Track (“DNT”) signal. There is currently no industry consensus on how to respond to DNT signals consistently, and LieChee does not change its behavior based on the presence of a DNT signal. We do, however, honor explicit privacy choices you make through your account settings.

LieChee is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 16. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will promptly delete it. If you believe we may have any information from or about a child under 16, please contact us at support@liechee.com.

European Economic Area & UK. If you are located in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you have rights under the GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our legal basis for processing is generally performance of a contract, your consent (where required), and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services.

California. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of Personal Information. We do not sell or share Personal Information as those terms are defined under the CPRA.

Other regions. Users in other jurisdictions may have similar local rights. Contact us to exercise them.
